“What are Chakras? Part 1 of 5” With Teacher Michael Stavrinides.
There is a lot of talk about chakras these days, and although this is a good thing, as it stirs up conversations and interest on the subject, there is also a lot of lost information that is not being shared as most people are not taking time to understand the basic fundamentals about chakras. It seems that it is a human trait to want to jump to the so-called juicy bits and skim over or totally bypass the basic fundamentals that can give a greater understanding to the whole process.
This insightful collection of 5 articles on Chakras, covers the basics and works its way upto “how to keep your chakras balanced”
The 5 articles or parts are listed below:
Part 1. What are Chakras?
Part 2. How do Chakras affect us?
Part 3. What blocks a Chakra?
Part 4. How to balance Chakras?
Part 5. How to keep your Chakras balanced?
A common question I am asked when I meet a client for the first time is, “how do I balance my chakras,” this and much more will be covered in the following parts, but in this part 1 section, I will go back to the beginning.
What are Chakras?
Chakras are energy centres; they are our gateway between the physical world and the spiritual world (energetic world). Within the physical body resides a body double, a spiritual body that contains the Chakras.
The word Chakra in Sanskrit translates to wheel or disc. Chakras are centres of activity that receives, assimilates and expresses life force energy.
Their function or dysfunctions as the case maybe, are closely related and responsible for the person's physical, mental, emotional and spiritual wellbeing. They absorb and transmit energies to and from the universe, nature, celestial entities, from people, animals and even from objects.
An important point to remember: We are all spiritual beings having an experience in a physical body. The chakras are our connection and gateway from the spiritual (energetic world) to the Physical world and vice versa.
Having a balanced energy system gives us clarity, perspective and a clearer connection to our inner knowing, our inner guidance, our intuition.
We have major and minor chakras, according to the traditional writings there are 88,000 chakras, these are located outside and inside the human body, the chakras located inside the human body basically cover every area in the body. It is said that 40 of them have significant functions and they are in the head, hands, feet, fingertips, and shoulder area. The most significant ones are the seven main chakras located along the central line of the body, from the base of the spine to the crown of the head.
Each of these seven main chakras has its own specific vibration and this vibration relates to a colour, sound and shape.
Below is a list of the 7 main chakras in the human body
7th The Crown Chakra (White or Violet colour)
6th Third Eye Chakra (Indigo colour)
5th Throat Chakra (Light Blue colour)
4th Heart Chakra (Green or Rose colour)
3rd Solar Plexus Chakra (Yellow colour)
2nd Sacral Chakra (Orange colour)
1st Root or Base Chakra (Red Colour)
